Paradigme

Three perfumers, Marie Salamagne, Bruno Jovanovic, and Nicolas Bonneville, built Prada Paradigme Eau de Parfum, released in 2025, from the base up, deliberately inverting the traditional fragrance pyramid. The result is a clean, aromatic, ambery woody masculine that feels more architectural than instinctive, and more considered than expected from mainstream designer launches. The Scent

Bright and citrus-clean from the first spray, Calabrian bergamot does what it does best: lifting everything above it with a sharp, sun-dried zest. The airy musks arrive almost simultaneously, which is unusual for a top note pairing. Rather than holding the citrus at arm's length, the musks soften it immediately, giving Paradigme a clean, almost skin-close feel right from the start. There is something soap-adjacent in these opening minutes, not laundry-flat, but freshly groomed, like a quality shaving balm. The citrus does not linger long; it burns off cleanly, making way for what comes next.

The geranium heart is where Paradigme makes its real statement. Green bourbon geranium has a natural rosy-metallic duality, and here it leans into the floral side of that split personality. The green sharpness you might expect from geranium is rounded considerably, and what you get instead is a softly floral, slightly herbaceous mid-section that bridges the bright citrus top to the warmer base below. This transition reads as polished and elegant on some skin, while on others the geranium stays closer to well-executed grooming product territory than to a distinctly assertive masculine signature. The note itself is doing real compositional work: it holds the brightness of the opening without letting the fragrance tip into aquatic or sport territory, and it softens the approach to the base without disappearing entirely.

The dry-down is where the inverted-pyramid philosophy pays off most clearly. Peru balm brings a warm, slightly sweet balsamic depth. Benzoin resin adds a honeyed creaminess without tipping into gourmand. Guaiac wood contributes a subtle smokiness, something vaguely like a woody incense that never gets heavy. The combined base is warm and resinous but restrained, and the way benzoin and guaiac wood layer beneath the balm keeps the whole accord from flattening into a single sweet note. It does not push into oud-woody darkness or amber-heavy sweetness. It settles close to skin, smooth and slightly sweet, with enough depth to justify the Eau de Parfum concentration. The split in opinion is real: it can read as a genuinely refined masculine with a smart structure, or it can read as generic and deodorant-adjacent. Both reactions come from the same source: how clean and inoffensive it is.

When to Wear

Paradigme works best in spring and early autumn, worn to professional settings and client meetings, or on occasions where you want to smell clean, polished, and present without announcing yourself. It belongs to the Work | Routine category in the most positive sense: refined enough to leave an impression, quiet enough not to distract.
